Need a booklet, brochure or any other document of between 8 and 700 pages? Well, depending on the page count, you’ll probably choose saddle stitched or perfect bound. Both methods have many great qualities and at DigitalPrinting.co.uk we’ve added a new A6 size to the already extensive range of sizes we offer.
Saddle stitched of perfect bound. What’s best for me?
Both types of binding have their own unique qualities, but the number of pages will determine which type you choose.
Saddle stitching is a binding technique used for any document of up to 48 pages. Pages are stacked then folded down the middle, so for example, an A3 sheet is folded to make four A4 pages. The stacked pages are bound together with staples (or stitches) along the spine. If your document has over 24 pages, we’ll square of the spine for an even cleaner, professional finish that will stop your booklet from springing open. Customers regularly use saddle stitching for booklets, brochures, catalogues and reports.
Remember, before you supply artwork for your saddle stitched booklet, make sure your total page count is a multiple of four, as each sheet when folded will make four printed pages.
With perfect binding, single pages are stacked then bound together with adhesive along the spine. Your cover is then wrapped around and glued to the spine. Choose perfect binding for books of between 40 pages and 700 pages. At DigitalPrinting.co.uk our customers use perfect binding for everything from manuals, reports and magazines to novels. Perfect bound books and documents are perfectly square making them great for stacking and displaying. We’ll even print on the spine too and the PUR glue we use is extremely flexible. That means the spine won’t crack and the book will open flat without pages becoming detached.
