Having recently launched a brand-new product to our digital printing portfolio, we are delighted to introduce the Notepad… no, not the Microsoft version, but the personalised, tangible and useful (stationery) notepad!

In this blog, we will discuss the importance of notepads, how to design them, how they are produced and what you can expect when you order online with us.

What is the best size for a notepad?

Notepads don’t always need to be big and bold to make a statement – a simple notepad which includes your logo, slogan, and contact information is just as powerful. That being said, the best size for a notepad depends greatly on your requirements. Here are 3 top tips to help you decide:

• Notepads come in all shapes and sizes. However, the most popular size that we see again, and again is A4 (210mm x 297mm) with 25 sheets per pad.  
• If you are looking for a notepad that is going to offer a lot of space, then we recommend going with A3 (420mm x 297mm).
• If you need a smaller notepad that is going to be easy to carry, fit easily into a handbag or briefcase, then we recommend A6 (148mm x 105mm) or A5 (210mm x 148mm).

What kind of glue is used in notepads?

Here at DigitalPrinting.co.uk, we use an industry-standard glue which is durable, long-lasting and strong: meaning you don’t need to worry about your notepad breaking and loose pages falling out.

How do you bind the notepad paper to the glue? 

Your design will be printed, separated with the grey backing board and then glued along the top (short edge) of the sheet. The process that we use is tried and tested in the printing industry giving you a product which is extremely popular. Once the glue is dry, we will carry out our quality checks on your notepads before we deliver them to your address. 

How much of the notepad can be printed?

We believe that your creativity shouldn’t be limited. When you order online with us, you have the whole page to work with! There are, of course, a few things to consider when designing the notepad, however:

• It’s important that you supply 3mm Bleed, 5mm Safe Area on the top, bottom and right edge of your page if items do not bleed off and a 20mm safe area on the left edge for drilling.
• If requested, we drill holes of 6mm dia. The centre of the holes are drilled 12mm from the left edge and are spaced 80mm apart to fit all 2 hole and 4 hole ring binders.

Will each page of my notepad be branded?

Yes. When you order online with DigitalPrinting.co.uk, each page in your 25 or 50 pads is printed single-sided with your design on every single page.

It’s important to note that if you want ruled lines on your printed pages within your notepad, you must include them in your design because we print exactly what you supply to us.

Are notepads a good marketing tool?

Here at Digital Printing, we have done some research and have found 3 different ways in which you can get creative with your notepad artwork and make it stand out!

To-Do List Notepad

To-Do Lists are also a great stress release: as you are ticking things off your list, you are visually seeing work getting done, feeling more productive, and allowing you to move forward onto the next task for efficiently. They are also a great tool to help you prioritise your tasks and make it easier to reschedule and organize your time more effectively. 

When designing this “to-do list”-style notepad, make sure your artwork includes a checkbox with ruled lines.

Message Notepad 

Message notepads are a must-have stationery item in the office. They provide a concise summary of phone calls from clients that are then provided to their account manager. 

This ensures that the client’s account manager receives the correct information about key details from their clients. It’s a crucial aspect of the business world to ensure high-quality customer service. 

When designing a message notepad, we recommend that you include a checkbox (this allows you to tick off the messages you have delivered) and extra space for a name, contact number and detailed message about the call. 

Thoughts Notepad

Perfect for a busy office… a ‘Thoughts Notepad’. Thoughts notepads are the perfect solution for you to jot down any EUREKA moments, brainstorming a new campaign, or writing down any inputs/corrections.

When you are designing a thoughts notepad, we recommend that you leave enough space for ideas, create spider diagrams or bullet-point lists. 

How do I upload my artwork? 

We ask that you upload your artwork as one Print Ready PDF. You will only need to design one page, and we will use to document to print the 25 or 50-page notepad.  If you would like your notepad to have ruled writing lines, then you will need to include them in your Print Ready PDF.
