"Just to give a bit of background, this document is the culmination of 14 boating Consortium Shareholders that contributed to this Travelogue where they described their experiences whilst cruising as co-owners on the jointly owned Narrowboat on the inland canal system. As the editor, I wanted to reward the members of their high quality contributions, often in diary format. I first approached local printers to reproduce the 86 page document on 100 gsm ordinary paper and ring-bind and the average quote was around £100 for only just ONE copy. I then thought of looking for online printing and came across HelloPrint & DigitalPrinting. I liked the look of the 'perfect bound' finish, but HelloPrint only offered a choice of 5 OR 25 copies for a short run, whereas I needed seven copies - so as DigitalPrinting offered ANY number of copies they were the obvious choice. Prior to making my order, I sent any queried the minimum margin for my artwork and received a prompt reply. When placing my order and uploading my PDF file, I was however unclear about the front cover, so I uploaded a separate PDF file for the cover image as well. I was a bit surprised that there was not a \"comments\" or \"special instructions\" box to clarify my requirements. After completing the transaction, I was initially confused when the invoice information indicated that there would be 82 inside-pages for my 86 page document. I rang customer services who explained that if I required blank information on the inside front cover and nothing printed on the back cover, and then my artwork needed to include blank pages for the covers. The customer services guy communicated my requirements to the print-prep team and I later received emails from the PrePress team clarifying my requirements and adjusting my original artwork with the extra blank-pages where they were needed. So, where I thought there was insufficient information prior to submitting my artwork, it was concerning how the front and back covers are processed. Regarding the final printed product, I was kept informed of the print-run progress and dispatch. The brochures I ordered were superbly packed and the quality of the finished product was extremely pleasing - the choice, finish and weight of paper are perfect. The only slight niggle is that for each page I prepared a light-grey background bounded by a blue-margin - on the final printed product the light-grey is ALMOST white, but you can still see that the background is a very light-grey when contrasted with the 10mm margin. It is not really a problem, but as the editor and creator for this document it is something I noticed. However I am highly confident the recipients of this brochure will be highly delighted.
