What makes a good banner stand? « Back to list

This is a question that we are often asked but just what does it take to make a good banner stand? The look and feel of your banner stand is only half the battle when it comes to making an impression on your customers. The last thing any company wants to do is spend time on designing and money on printing a banner stand only for your customers to not even notice them. So, to help you get your customers to sit up and take notice of your next banner stand, here are just a few pointers to keep in mind the next time you are thinking of using banner stands.

Quality material is a must

Don’t get fooled by the cheap price and hidden promises. If you’re willing to spend pennies on a banner stand then don’t be shocked when you have to constantly pick it off the ground! Don’t invest in a cheap banner stand made of a flimsy material or plastic. This won’t reflect well on you or your business and your customer will see the lack of quality immediately.

A clear message

There’s nothing worse for a customer than looking at a banner stand that has too much happening and no clear message. It’s important to realise than you only have a limited period of time to captivate your audience with a banner stand. Don’t waste their time! Make sure they can clearly understand what it is you are trying to say to them. This means 3 things:

1. Using a font that is clear and easy to read (especially from distance)
2. Using colours that work well together and don’t put a strain on the eyes
3. If you are using graphics or images, do so at a minimum

Corporate colours

A banner stand is as much of a branding tool as a billboard, brochure or even signage on your premises. Therefore it’s important that you don’t waste the space on your banner stand by not including any key parts of your brand. This means brand colours, slogans and logos should all be incorporated onto any banner stand. This will help with brand recall and will also make your banner stand more recognisable to customers who are already familiar with your brand colours and message. Don’t use colours that will leave them baffled and confused.

An interactive space

Getting the most from a banner stand is as much about the space you plan to use it in than the stand itself. Whether at a trade show, conference or in store, it’s important that you create an interactive space for your banner stands. Use supporting material like a TV monitor, salesperson, leaflets and flyers or props to help further sell your message. This also gives the audience (your customers) a chance to really interact with your stand, your brand and your product. Leave them with an experience that’s much greater than “that was a nice stand”. Think of the whole customer experience and the role a banner stand has in making this a good one.

Keep things simple

Finally, don’t complicate things. A banner stand is there to do some of your work for you. It’s there to put your product or offering in front of an audience. Make it as clear and easy for them to understand what it is. Don’t leave them scratching their heads and wondering what is going on.
