A guide to document printing « Back to list

book bindingReports, magazines, brochures and company booklets have always been among our most popular products. We supply a huge range of multi-page documents for both business and private customers.

There are a number of options when ordering your document and the choices you make will depend largely on its purpose.

Binding

Your printed document can be bound together in one of three ways and each has its own advantages:

Why choose perfect bound books?
Customers choose perfect bound books for documents of between 40 and 700 pages. The pages are stacked and glued along the spine with a very flexible PUR glue. The cover is than wrapped around and glued to the block of pages along the spine.

Perfect binding is ideal for magazines, manuals, reports and novels. We print on the spine too, so the title can be seen when your document is stacked or arranged on a shelf.

Why choose saddle stitched booklets?
If your document is 48 pages or less, saddle stitched could be your best solution. With this simple and cost effective method, sheets are folded and stapled along the fold, so one sheet folded makes four printed pages. It’s our most popular method and often used for brochures, magazines and catalogues.

Why choose wiro bound documents?
For documents up to 360 printed pages, wiro bound – or spiral bound – is often used. The pages are stacked and hole punched along the rear edge, then a metal wire coil is fed through the holes. With this method, the pages open completely flat and the book can fold back on itself, so it’s great for recipe books, reference material and reports.

Choose from a great range of sizes
All of our printed documents are available in a great range of sizes. Saddle stitched and perfect bound come in A6, A5, 1/3 A4 and A4 as well as 210mm x 210mm square.

Wiro bound goes right up to A3 size but isn’t available in A6. And with portrait and landscape formats across the range, you’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to choosing the best size for your printed document.

What paper types do we offer for document printing?
We offer an extensive range of paper types, weights and finishes. You can see them all when getting an instant quote on our website. There’s silk, gloss or premium uncoated paper. Many customers choose matt or gloss lamination for their cover and we recommend this to give extra strength. There are recycled options too and if you want something really special, have a look at our luxury paper range – a stunning selection of beautiful papers that really have to be seen to be believed.
